TAFT AVENUE (ROCKRIDGE), OAKLAND, CA

One of two second story addition and complete remodels along Taft Avenue in Oakland, a lovely Rockridge area street. Like the other remodel on Taft, this one preserves the original Craftsman style entry and general look and feel of the house from the street. In both cases the roof is removed, and the new roof built at a higher pitch allowing for the space for the upper level addition and expansion of the home. This strategy made both projects look like they were originally constructed as two-story buildings and retained the beauty and scale of early 20th century Craftsman buildings.
