ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

  • With over 300 projects and more than 30 years of design experience across categories, TJA is a leader in  sustainable, resilient and cost effective design, blending function with beauty. 

  • One of our specialties, we integrate our deep knowledge of ecological principles, including water management and the importance of using native plants, into our site design work.

  • We are one of few architecture firms with a Principal, Todd Jersey, who is also a certified Permaculture Designer and trained with Permaculture founder Bill Mollison.

  • Our motto is literally to think “outside the box of the building” and “beyond the property lines” to ensure that projects are designed to enhance neighborhoods.

  • We are an award-winning preservation firm having won several awards for our work on the restoration and preservation of the Richmond plunge

  • We are fanatical about saving existing buildings in large part due to the high levels of carbon reduction involved in restoration and reuse of existing buildings versus new construction.

  • Trained in Building Science and Passive House best practices, we apply this knowledge to the design and construction of all of our buildings.

  • Our involvement in the offsite construction space began back in the late 1990s when we worked with Mobile Modular in Manteca to green their existing modular classroom buildings. This expertise continues to this day.

  • A trained builder prior to architecture studies, Todd Jersey’s interest in construction methods, systems and materials, has never waned. We are one of the few design firms that are truly fluent in construction cost control.

CONSULTING

  • Our Building Science mastery allows us to determine causes of water intrusion and affordable fixes for existing buildings.

  • We designed the first LEED Gold Hotel in the nation in 2003 and are adept at designing to LEED Platinum levels of design at minimal additional construction cost.
